Checkers

About Checkers
Checkers is a two-player board game played on the dark squares of a checkerboard. Each player starts with pieces on opposite sides of the board. The goal is to capture all of the other player’s pieces or block them so they cannot move. Pieces move diagonally, and normal pieces move forward until they reach the far side and become kings.
Checkers feels simple at first because each piece moves in a clear way. A player can slide a piece to an open dark square or jump over an enemy piece to capture it. Many versions make jumping required when a capture is possible. Kings are stronger because they can move in more directions. This makes the game deeper as the board changes. A small move near the start can matter later.
Checkers works well for kids because the rules are easy to learn, but the game still rewards smart thinking. The player has to protect pieces, look for safe moves, and watch for jumps. A rushed move can give the other player a free capture. A planned move can open a double jump or block a strong piece. The game teaches patience and focus in a simple way. Every match feels different because both players keep changing the board.
