Peg Solitary

Remove Pegs One Jump at a Time

Peg Solitary is a one-player board puzzle with a simple goal. The board begins almost full, with one hole left empty. You move a peg by jumping it over a nearby peg and into an open hole. The peg that gets jumped disappears. You continue making legal jumps and try to finish with only one piece remaining.

The mouse controls each move. Select the peg you want to use, then choose the empty hole where it should land. A move works only when one peg sits directly between the starting point and the destination.

Look Beyond the Next Jump

Removing one peg always feels like progress, but every jump also changes the available routes. A move near the edge may leave a peg separated from the rest of the board. That lonely piece can become impossible to remove later.

Before moving, check what the landing peg can do next. A strong choice often creates another jump or keeps several pieces close enough to interact.

Keep the Pieces Connected

Large groups provide more possible moves than scattered pegs. Try to guide the puzzle toward the centre rather than leaving isolated pieces around the outside.

It also helps to avoid clearing one complete section too early. An empty area may look tidy, but you may later need a peg from that section to remove another piece. Peg Solitary rewards players who think about the final few moves from the beginning.

Restart with a Better Plan

A round can reach a point where several pegs remain but no legal jump exists. This does not mean the rules have failed. One earlier choice has closed the useful paths. Restart the board and try changing the first move that caused the pieces to separate.

Peg Solitary needs no timer, story, or complicated commands. The challenge comes from a small rule that affects the whole board. Every jump removes a piece, yet only a planned sequence can leave one peg at the end. The calm pace makes it suitable for players who enjoy thinking through a problem without needing quick reactions.
